Chiefly papers of the Temple family of "Ampthill," Chesterfield County, Va., and "Berclair, " Spotsylvania County, Va. Included are administrator's accounts and related items of Benjamin Temple (1801-1872) and correspondence, 1822-1868, of his wife, Lucy Lilly (Robinson) Temple (1807-1884). Also included are early land and legal records of the Curtis family of Gloucester County, Va.; estate papers, including plantation inventories, of Philip Grymes (1721-1762), planter and colonial official, of "Brandon," Middlesex County, Va.; correspondence, accounts, legal papers, etc., of members of the Robinson family of "Locust Grove," Middlesex County; correspondence, accounts and legal papers of the Poe family of Lynchburg, Va., especially of Thomas (d. 1825), George (d. 1827), John (1782-1869), and Caswell, who ran a tannery; and correspondence, estate and physicians' accounts, and legal papers of the Harrison family of Hanover County, Va., especially of Dr. John Prosser Harrison (1765-1817), Dr. John Prosser Harrison (1804?-1851), and Dr. Jacob Prosser Harrison (1834-1908) of "Poplar Grove," who served in the Confederate Army's Chimborazo Hospital, Richmond, Va.
